How beautiful is Barcelona?! Could not get enough of Gaudi's work, historical buildings, ramblas and tapas!
I arrived with mom on 14th May, my birthday!!! Our plane from London was leaving at around 8 in the morning so we had to wake up very early, slept just 2 hours! I was incredibly tired on the plane but as soon as I got out, all the energy came back. It was such joy to feel the sun, the sea breeze and simply to finally be there!
First day we spent around Placa de Catalunya, took street up towards Gaudi's houses; Casa Batllo and Casa Milla (La Padrera). It was pity that Casa Milla was under reconstruction, so we did not see the house properly :(. However, Casa Batllo amazed me! I kinda knew what to expect but it was much more interesting in real! I love the colors on the house, the balconies in shapes of skulls (anybody sees cat skulls?) and the roof in shape of a lizard. This is my favorite of Gaudi's works, maybe because I see cats on the house haha. But it was just interesting how out of context it was, in between other houses, it seemed to me as if I was in Disneyland and this was an attraction to enter! Like a fairytale, kind of surreal I would say?
After walking all day we decided to finally get some Sangria and Tapas! I am not even gonna talk about the frustration I felt when I did not know what to order. 68 different plates to choose from with menu in Spanish. Yay! But we managed to get quite decent stuff!
Visit Cerveceria Catalna when in Barcelona! It is definitely one of the best tapas bars in the city!
The day we ended up strolling down La Rambla, checked out some shops, walked around Placa Reial, then towards the sea and World Trade Center and finally got to the hotel at around 12:30. What a long day!
Was wearing new bag from River Island, Miss Selfridge biker jacket, A&F men's blue shirt, Bershka ripped pants, Converse. My travel gear :P
